BNC / ZNC Bouncer
IRCWorld runs a free ZNC bouncer so you can stay connected 24/7 and receive messages while you're offline.
What is a BNC?
A BNC (bouncer) sits between your IRC client and the server. It stays connected when you close your client, buffers messages, and replays them when you reconnect. You won't miss anything.
Getting access
Your NickServ account must be at least 14 days old. Haven't registered yet? See NickServ.
#ircworld and ask an operator.
Connecting to the BNC
Once your account is set up, point your IRC client at:
BNC host
bnc.ircworld.org Port
5457 TLS5456 plain
Most clients want a server password in this format. Some may do it differently. If you get stuck, ask in #ircworld and we'll help you get it sorted.
username:password
Use the username and password you were given when your BNC account was created.
Your vhost on the network will show as bnc.ircworld.org.
Using the BNC with web IRC clients
Most web IRC clients work with a BNC too. KiwiIRC and our own Web IRC both support it.
Set the server to bnc.ircworld.org, the port to 5457 with TLS, and use the same username:password format for the server password.
ZNC web panel
Manage your BNC settings and channels through the ZNC web interface at bnc.ircworld.org.
